01 · Check the facts
Confirm the invoice, agreed terms, supporting records and whether there is a genuine business-to-business transaction. Credit or consumer-hire debts and employment disputes are not accepted.
A payment delay isn't always a refusal to pay. Sometimes an invoice was not received, an approval is missing, a purchase-order reference is wrong, or the customer has a genuine question. EKENU is developing a calm, pre-escalation business invoice resolution desk to find the hold-up and help the businesses take an informed next step.
Confirm the invoice, agreed terms, supporting records and whether there is a genuine business-to-business transaction. Credit or consumer-hire debts and employment disputes are not accepted.
Check the recipient is a suitable business contact and get specific written authority. A customer entering an email address would never by itself authorise contact.
One human-reviewed, factual status enquiry could ask whether the invoice was received, what information is missing and whether there is a genuine query. No threats, demands or misleading pressure.
Document actual responses, tell the customer what changed, and consider one further appropriate check where justified. Genuine disputes go back for review, not into automated pressure.
Choose a hypothetical situation to see how EKENU's screening process would respond. No names, amounts, dates or contact details are requested or transmitted.
Start with the hypothetical facts. This is an explanation, not approval of a real case.
Included in the proposed £39 starter: one eligible business invoice review, authorised initial status enquiry, up to one appropriate reviewed follow-up, and a truthful record of replies and next steps.
Not included: debt purchase or enforcement, threats, letters before action, litigation, regulated credit debt collection, payment handling, guaranteeing a recovery, negotiating legally binding settlements, or automatic repeat chasing. Money owed stays payable directly to the original supplier.
If an invoice is genuinely disputed, contact is contested, or the enquiry requires legal judgment, EKENU pauses and refers it back rather than treating disagreement as a refusal to pay.
Important: A pre-escalation approach does not automatically determine the FCA or payment-provider classification of the activity. Before public orders open, EKENU must confirm regulatory scope, data protection, business disclosures, banking and merchant eligibility. Proposed terms · Privacy information.
